Tales from Dog River: The Complete Corner Gas Guide by Michele Sponagle
![]()
Corner Gas, hmm, sounds like a little gas station in the middle of nowhere, run by a middle class guy, with nothing to do in his life [which is actually true]. But it is also the name of a hilarious Canadian TV Series. That’s probably why someone decided to write a book about it. The book has every detail about Corner Gas, even the ones that the most hard-core fans don’t know.
The book includes facts about the people who created Corner Gas, or even just helped design the set, or maybe they have helped Brent Butt, creator and actor, write the scripts. It has a section that shows every single fact about the set, it has a part that shows how they created that Saskatchewan-type look, and it includes the personalities of the characters.
One of my favourite parts of this fact book is the cast bios. It includes the accomplishments of each actor, a little info about the actors, and a top 10 things that NOBODY knows about the actors. Some of the hidden things that nobody knows about are how one of the actors has a hidden phobia, or how one of of the actors played on the first aboriginal Rugby team ever. That is a smidgen of info that you will find about the actors in this book.
There is also a section in the book that shows what the guest stars who starred on the show think of it. Canadian Idol host Ben Mulroney, TSN anchor Darren Dutchensyn, singer Jann Arden, former Toronto Maple Leaf star Darrel Sittler and many more. Some of the things that they said about the show were pretty funny.
My favourite part of the book is the part that shows the episode guide. It shows everything about the episode. It shows a story about the episode, including facts that no one knew about the episode. For example, in some of the episodes, there were things in the Howler, the newspaper of the town of Dog River, that the book shows that every one forgets about, or the mistakes they made. They called it an oops.
At the very end of the book, there is a section that shows what the visitors who came to see the set thought of it, which is pretty funny. At the very end, there is also a conclusion to the book.
I would recommend this book to people who like comedy, or someone who needs a new TV show to try, because it will get you to try the show, trust me. Overall, I love this book, it’s amazing.
