New this year, the Silver Birch Express program is intended for students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 who want to take part in Silver Birch, but who need fewer books, shorter books, and books that are written for less experienced readers. Strong readers in Grade 3 are also welcome to take part!
There are ten nominated titles, a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, and those wishing to vote on their favourite book must read a minimum of five of the ten books before voting day.
Copies of the Silver Birch nominated titles will arrive in the library by the second week in December, and students will be able to begin reading just as soon as they are on the shelves! Readers will be invited to lunch-hour meetings during which they can discuss the books they are reading with other students. No doubt Timbits will be served!
